Pre-heat slow cooker on high first
mix 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar & let sit for 5-10 minutes to thicken.
Mix 2 1/2 cups self raising flour, 2 teaspoon baking powder. Herbs- Italian. Oregano , onion flakes, salt,+ pepper (judge quantities) parmesan cheese, about a cup + half of pizza cheese and 3 heaped tbsp of minced garlic mix together then add a cup of diced bacon pieces, 3 spring onion (cut up) then slowly pour in milk mix and mix every thing together till you have a ball of dough.
Spray slow cooker with oil and line with baking paper then place dough in and score twice across the top then brush with an egg mixture. Cover top of slow cooker with tea towel, put lid on and bake on high for 2 1/2 hours. Ooh I also put some more grated cheese + chives on top.
You can brown in oven for 10 minutes once done but I didn’t find it necessary.
Method 2:
Begin by pre-heating the slow cooker on high.
Combine 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of vinegar and allow the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes until it thickens.
In a mixing bowl, blend 2 1/2 cups of self-raising flour and 2 teaspoons of baking powder. Add Italian herbs, such as oregano, onion flakes, salt, and pepper according to your preference. Include a generous portion of grated Parmesan cheese, approximately 1 1/2 cups of pizza cheese, and 3 heaped tablespoons of minced garlic. Mix these ingredients thoroughly.
Introduce a cup of diced bacon pieces and the finely chopped spring onions (3). Gradually pour in the thickened milk mixture while stirring until all ingredients come together to form a cohesive dough.
Prepare the slow cooker by applying a light coating of oil and lining it with baking paper. Place the dough inside and make two shallow cuts across the top. For a finishing touch, brush the top with an egg mixture. Cover the slow cooker with a clean tea towel and then secure the lid. Let it bake on high for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
As an optional step, you can enhance the bread’s appeal by sprinkling extra grated cheese and chives on the top.
After the baking is complete, you have the option to achieve a golden-brown crust by placing the bread in the oven for an additional 10 minutes. However, many find this step unnecessary due to the wonderful texture and flavor achieved through slow cooking
